The Consumer Electronics Show 2024, the world’s largest consumer technology trade show, is set to unfold from January 9 to 12 in Las Vegas. The CES has evolved into a comprehensive technology conference, with more than 130,000 attendees and over 4,000 exhibiting companies anticipated. The conference will occupy 2.4 million net square feet, a 10% increase from the 2023 event.
Keynote speakers at CES 2024 include the CEOs of tech giants Intel, Qualcomm, and Snap, along with retail leaders from Best Buy and Walmart. Notably, the event will spotlight artificial intelligence, especially generative AI, with companies showcasing AI-enabled products and services. Intel plans to introduce a new class of personal computers called AI PCs during a special event.
Major consumer electronics companies like LG, Samsung, and Sony will unveil their latest innovations, spanning big-screen TVs, audio gear, and home appliances. The conference will also feature pavilions dedicated to automobiles, smart cities, healthcare, food tech, and robotics. Over 30 panel discussions will delve into AI’s impact on various business segments, from agriculture to entertainment.
Generative AI will take centre stage, influencing not only products but also the very art used to promote the event. The Consumer Technology Association commissioned creative agency Proof to generate imagery for CES 2024, relying on AI-generated images primarily from Midjourney and finishing touches with software tools from Adobe.
Edge AI including AI PCs and smartphones, will be a focal point, emphasizing on-device processing for certain applications. Intel’s media event will highlight AI PCs in collaboration with partners like Dell Technologies, HP, Lenovo, and Microsoft.
CES 2024 will continue to showcase ingredient technologies, with semiconductor firms presenting their latest AI processors and other components. About 60-70% of the conference will focus on consumer-facing technology, while the rest caters to businesses.
Electric grills, robots, and beauty tech products will be among the diverse array of innovations presented. Notably, Edge AI transportation, featuring electric vehicles, autonomy, and in-car entertainment systems, will be a significant theme. The show will host around 300 auto and mobility companies, solidifying CES as a major global auto show.
However, the absence of U.S. automakers, including General Motors, Ford, and Stellantis, will be notable due to disruptions from autoworker strikes in 2023. Instead, global players like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Honda, Kia, and Hyundai will showcase their latest offerings.
Additionally, the recently opened Sphere entertainment complex, with its mesmerizing LED exterior, is poised to attract attention and become a key advertising hotspot during the event. As CES 2024 unfolds, it promises to be a comprehensive showcase of cutting-edge technologies shaping the future across diverse industries.
