Fortem Technologies has partnered with MBDA to present a new effector concept for Sky Warden at the Farnborough International Airshow 2024. Through this partnership, MBDA’s Sky Warden counter-uncrewed aerial systems (C-UAS) system will be able to utilize Fortem’s DroneHunter® technology. The Sky Warden system utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) to identify and classify threats, optimizing the response time and efficiency of human operators.
MBDA showcased the Sky Warden system’s capabilities during a recent event in Italy, impressing 17 customer delegations. The system neutralized a variety of offensive drone threats in realistic scenarios. The new ground-launched anti-air munition, developed with Fortem Technologies, targets Class 1 and smaller Class 2 uncrewed aircraft systems (sUAS) and loitering munition threats. This independent warhead design allows operators to deploy it instantly on the battlefield.
The Italy demonstration highlighted Sky Warden’s versatility, using jammers, hunter drones, lasers, and the Mistral 3 missile. Customers now have more alternatives, thanks to Sky Warden’s new RF-guided drone-style effector, which complements their current offerings. Sky Warden can neutralize tactical drones, reconnaissance mini-drones, and traditional air-breathing threats. Its modular, scalable design ensures it meets the diverse requirements of global customers, either as part of a layered air defense architecture or in a standalone configuration.
