The World Food Travel Association (WFTA) has announced the introduction of the Culinary Attaché network, aimed at raising awareness about the significance of preserving and promoting local culinary cultures worldwide. Inspired by Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution, which aimed to educate communities globally about healthy eating, this program seeks to empower passionate locals in preserving their unique culinary traditions.
Erik Wolf, Executive Director of WFTA, explained, “The Culinary Attaché network aims to make a positive impact on local economies and communities by enabling enthusiastic individuals to leverage their own culinary cultures.”
The primary benefits of the Culinary Attaché Network for culinary destinations include:
- Strengthening the sense of identity and attracting more visitors
- Enhancing the brand reputation of the destination
- Creating export opportunities for local food and beverage products
- Generating employment within the tourism and hospitality sectors
Additionally, the Culinary Attaché network allows the WFTA to expand its global presence and bring news and insights from various corners of the world back to the Association.
This initiative complements the WFTA’s existing Ambassador program, which consists of official representatives in different countries. The Culinary Attachés, on the other hand, are informal supporters with minimal requirements and commitments. Individuals interested in participating can find more information about the program and its benefits, with applications open to anyone aged 18 or older worldwide. Terms and conditions apply.
