As Dogs Trust USA announces its 2024 grant recipients, the US total since 2018 tallies an impressive $1,384,196. Worldwide Dogs Trust has granted nearly $10 million to like-minded organizations in the past 30 years.
This year’s grantees are all focused on one of the top three global canine issues, that of managing dog populations safely and effectively. Thus the focus is on spray and neutering and vet affordability.
2024’s grantees are:
- Humane Society of Sonoma County, in Santa Rosa, California – $50,000
- Kentucky Humane Society, in Louisville, Kentucky – $50,000
- PPAW Spray Neuter, in Knoxville, Tennessee – $40,000
- Mississippi Spay and Neuter, in Jackson, Mississippi – $41,103
- Furry Friends, in Florida – $20,000
“The extraordinary relationship, intuitive bond of love and loyalty I shared with my dog, Ella, is not only why I wrote ‘Meet Ella: The Dog Who Saved My Life’, but also why I’ve recently become an Ambassador for Dogs Trust. The organization is an extraordinary charity in the UK, with a 133-year history, and I’m proud of how it works with it’s affiliate nonprofit Dogs Trust USA, and the incredible $1.4M Dogs Trust USA has granted to American rescues and shelters since 2018,” shared author, entrepreneur and mental health campaigner James Middleton.
Dogs Trust USA’s president and director, Owen Sharp, stated, “2023 was our sixth year and every day we saved the lives of dogs in the US and around the world. When we launched Dogs Trust in the USA in 2018, the euthanasia rates in several states were extraordinarily high, and millions of dogs around the world were suffering because of poorly managed dog populations, distressing physical welfare and one of the world’s deadliest preventable diseases: rabies.”
